stitch therapy sunday – pincushion winner + contemporary embroidery artists

I’m a bit late posting the giveaway winner for the LuvKt pincushion so let’s do that now! I visited the google machine and using their random number generator, it chose comment #4 which is ALISON MACZKA. I will email you for your mailing address Alison. Thanks to everyone for entering, reading all those beautiful gratitude statements was a wonderful thing.

I’ve also been exploring the world of contemporary embroidery. It reminds me of the classification of traditional quilting and art quilting. has a wonderful feature article about artists who are using embroidery in unique ways. I love the creativity and how thread is showcased as merely a material for drawing. Click the screenshot below to go see the work, it’s absolutely astounding.

Congratulations Alison! Enjoy your new pincushion! I am always amazed at the creativity of people with needle and thread. Have you seen the UK magazine Embroidery? It covers the whole gamut from antique pieces to contemporary artists. There are some interesting articles on the website, too. I subscribe to both Stitch and Embroidery and love them both.
