Holy wow. July 2021 is the last time I checked in here? I’d love to say that the reason is because I’ve been fabulously creating art and frolicking through the streets. But it’s more like just…life. So this post will just be an information dump of stuff that’s happened since I was last here.
My plant obsession continues. This is one of my orchids currently in bloom. It’s Clowesia Rebecca Northen. The flowers smell like grapefruit!
My sweet dog Carter passed on in late 2021. He was thirteen and dealing with horrible back/arthritis pain. It was hard to let him go but we knew it was the right decision to make.
I’ve had a canine companion in my life since I was only a year old and life felt so terribly incomplete when Carter left. So this is Winston, a maltese puppy that we welcomed into our lives. He’s about five months old and full of puppy energy that can only be described as pure joy. If you think they look very similar, they do. Carter was a maltese/yorkshire terrier mix.
I’ve set a huge art goal for myself for the year. It wants it’s own blog post. I feel like it’s a little crazy but I haven’t done any crazy in my art life in a long while. It’s overdue.
I’ve also started something I’m calling Stitch Studies. It also wants it’s own blog post. It stems from the stitch variations I did for my last book. I’d show you the one I’ve been working on but I’m not loving the format so I’m changing that up. Once I get a format I really love I’ll post so many pictures you’ll be sick of looking at them.
I work from home full time now because the plague just continues on and on. I won’t lie, I’m over the worry of it and having to curb what little part of me is extroverted. Granted, it’s not much but still. I know I’m not alone in that sentiment. One thing I can say is that working from home allows me to not feel overextended just dealing with the business of every day life.
It allows me to be kinder to myself while still taking care of all my obligations and it’s something that I am grateful to have.

It’s great to see you back Lynn! I finally just started creating art again myself after 2 years! I am back with a vengeance and it feels so great! My goals are to finish up the quilts that I finally got started and enter quite a few exhibits this year!

Welcome back… I have found I too am kinda worn out by all the COVID closings. I don’t get out much—in large part life continues as normal since I always work from home in a Very Rural place, but yeah…. I’d like to just go out , not wear a mask (because it steams up my glasses and I’m sick of not being able to see everytime I go indoors), and sit with a book and cuppa in a public space. I am working on my first new art quilt in two YEARS…. between burn-out from teaching etc. and COVID…. so yeah. I hear you. LOVE meeting Winston and can’t wait to see what you are working on. Welcome back! I’m with you on the plague. I often wonder about those who are extroverts and have no hobbies. How are they coping? (I obviously don’t have to worry about either of those!) I was heartbroken about Carter and while Winston can’t replace him, he is creating his own special place in my heart. He is so joyful. Looking forward to seeing your new projects!

Puppy energy can be sometimes wearing ( we got a new pup – a Lagotto Romagnolo – as the 2020 isolation began, so I know !), but enjoy every minute with him. Home now, especially if you’re in the auto design side. It does make somethings easier, but easy to get too home bound. Thank God for computers or we wouldn’t have survived this I don’t think. 😂
